- יָבֵשII (b. h.; preced.) to be dry, to wither. Bets.26b מוקצה שי׳ stored fruits (v. מוקצה) which were dry (on Friday), though the owner did not find it out until the Sabbath day; Y. ib. I, beg. 60a. Pi. יִיבֵּש to dry up. Gen. R. s. 33 עתיד … וליַיבֵּשוכ׳ in the future a righteous man (Elijah) will come and lay the world dry (through want of rain).
